When all insurance options have been exhausted or when payment due is the responsibility of the individual, our Self-Pay department becomes a valuable resource. We follow a tried and true methodology that includes:
- 3 letters from NEAR
NEAR sends a first letter to bad debt patients advising the patient that their account is delinquent and should be responded to within 30 days from the date of receiving notice. Phone contact then begins after the 30-day period if no resolution is reached. Failure to resolve the issue automatically activates the 2nd letter in the series. If needed, a third and final notice letter stating the account should be settled within 10 days is sent.
- Phone contact after "30-day dispute period"
We are regulated and adhere to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act with regards to our collection procedures and methodology.
- Skip Tracing
Patients who are no longer at the provided address are located using sophisticated investigative software tools. There are no additional fees for our skip tracing services.
- Credit Report
Employing on-line tools and services such as Equifax, NEAR is able to provide our clients with the factual data needed to make informed decisions on potential action to take on bad debt accounts. There are no fees associated for NEAR providing credit reporting to our clients.
- Affect Credit Rating when authorized
There may be circumstances where affecting credit may be the last resort to encourage patients who have the resources to pay the bill. Affecting credit disrupts the debtors' ability to secure loans, lease vehicles or even attain credit or bank cards until the debt is paid off.
- Litigation action when authorized
When litigation is necessary, NEAR employs the services of a national network of skilled attorneys specializing in the collections industry.
- Results
Our results are consistently at or above industry standards. Results do vary and are dependent upon several factors including age of accounts, balance and demographics. Regardless of these variables, NEAR has satisfied thousands of clients throughout our existence.
